About
We built the consent platform we wished existed.
GetConsent started with a straightforward frustration: informed consent in most Australian practices was still being managed with printed forms, rushed conversations, and signatures witnessed in waiting rooms. It was neither good for patients nor defensible for clinicians.
We set out to build a platform that treats consent as what it actually is: a process of genuine communication, not a signature-collection exercise.
Mission
Consent that patients actually understand and clinicians can actually defend
We believe that a consent process is only valid if the patient genuinely understood what they agreed to. That requires plain language, adequate time, and a way to check comprehension, none of which a paper form provides.
It also requires a record that cannot be altered after the fact. Every clinician who has faced a complaint or legal action knows that the consent form is the first thing examined. If it can be questioned, it will be.
GetConsent solves both problems: a patient experience that promotes genuine understanding, and an audit trail that is cryptographically immutable.
What we stand for
Patient first, always
The consent process exists for the patient, not the practice. We design every interaction from the patient's perspective: plain language, mobile-first, at their own pace.
Evidence, not convenience
Convenience matters, but never at the expense of evidentiary integrity. Our cryptographic audit trail is non-negotiable. A consent record that can be questioned is not a consent record.
Clinical integration over disruption
GetConsent should disappear into your existing workflow. We integrate with the practice management systems clinicians already use and minimise the administrative overhead of adoption.
Honest about limitations
Digital consent is a tool, not a complete solution. GetConsent documents the process, but the quality of the consent conversation with the clinician remains the foundation.
Privacy as a design principle
Patient data is sensitive. We store it in Australian data centres, encrypt it at rest and in transit, and never use it for any purpose beyond the consent workflow.
Continuous improvement
Healthcare law, patient expectations, and technology all evolve. GetConsent is updated continuously. Our roadmap is driven by clinician and patient feedback.
